Links golf....windy, cold, wet, bad bounces, tough conditions. THAT is links golf. IAGA members who played at Half Moon Bay in the first Major of the Year in the IAGA Open were treated to FANTASTIC conditions. No wind, perfect temperatures, smooth greens. The competition was hot, hot, hot as EVERYONE was making pars in ALL flights.

With the field sizzling on the course, it took some special scores to get the top prize in each flight and that is exactly what we had.

In the Maharaja flight JIMMY SINGH shot his BEST round ever in IAGA and squeaked out a well earned victory with a Low Gross 74 and Low Net of 66.

In the Tiger flight IRFAN MEHDI shot his BEST round ever in IAGA and sailed to a 4 stroke victory with a Net 65.

In the Cobra flight ANIRUDH JOSHI shot a solid round and got his victory with a Low Net of 70.

Each of these winners took home their flights by only ONE stroke.

With it being a Major, each player takes home DOUBLE winning $$$ each...$200 for winning the flight. Here are the totals:

  • First Place.....Jimmy Singh, Irfan Mehdi, Anirudh Joshi......$200
  • 2nd place.....Suhas Kulkarni, BJ Desai, Vishal Goyal.......$$80
  • Closest to the Pin.........Vineet Sharma .....$40
  • Long Drive.....Maharaja......Suhas Kulkarni
  • Long Drive.....Tiger/Cobra....Sandeep Randhawa
  • Low Gross......Jimmy Singh.........$60
  • Skins were paid by flight
  • Maharaja skins......Dhiraj Bokde (5 skins - $194)....Shriraj Gaglani (4 skins - $155).....Vishal Wadhwa (3 skins - $116)
  • Tiger/Cobra skins.....Milind Dange (10 skins - $248)......Ravi Pindiproli (7 skins - $173).....Irfan Mehdi (1 skin - $25)
  • Golfer of the Year earned DOUBLE points for all the winners.

Terrific food was enjoyed by all and congrats were given to the new Daddy, Dhiraj Bokde who actually showed up. In addition, Robin Sahai walked away with a nice big screen TV which barely fit in his car.

Finally, it is important to note that a special recognition is earned by Satish Dalal, who played in the lead group and proved he is NOT a slow player when playing with decent players. Good pace Satish. We are now in search of the next SLOW player.

With that we are ready to head out to our second Monterey adventure in 2014 as we seek to dominate Bayonet Golf course in August. Details and sign up will follow shortly.

Thanks to all for a great time at Half Moon Bay. See you at Bayonet.
