What a fantastic MAJOR was had by IAGA at Half Moon Bay's OLD COURSE. This was a classic layout with plenty of drama. Not to mention the highest number of golf infractions reported in an IAGA event EVER!!!! The good news about that, and it was highlighted at the post round awards luncheon, YOU are taking ownership of PROTECTING THE FIELD. In the past, members have often turned a blind eye to infractions in their group for fear of antagonizing or "making too much" of it. Fear that this would cause more bad feelings than it was worth.

If you do that in your group, you are doing a dis service to the integrity of the rules of golf which IAGA upholds with a passion. However, IAGA can only address those issue we are made aware of. To the degree YOU turn a blind eye, YOU are impacting the field just as much as the player committing the infraction.

Now it is understood that all members don't know ALL the rules. It is why we say, "always ask them to play two balls" and bring it to the committee at the end of the round. Members, please do your best to help PROTECT THE FIELD. They play hard and are counting on a round of golf played under the rules of golf.

While each of these infractions was upheld, fortunately, none of them impacted the final results. Here are the winners from Half Moon Bay's MAJOR where your ability to QUALIFY for the IAGA OPEN got you DOUBLE TROUBLE as all payouts were doubled!!! The MAJOR has to mean something, RIGHT???
